MAERSK SEALAND NOW READY TO OPERATE
After required approvals have been obtained A.P. Møller-Maersk Line has now taken over the International Liner Business of Sea-Land Service Inc.

Since the signing of the purchase contract in July 1999, the practical aspects of the acquisition have been prepared and MAERSK SEALAND is now ready to meet customers' requirements for global coverage of all transportation needs.

With 325 own offices and a combined work force of over 10,000 employees in more than 100 countries, MAERSK SEALAND will provide an even stronger organisation structure with an optimised global network of services, as well as improved IT infrastructure, to facilitate even better interaction with customers.

This is a translation of the original Danish announcement.
