Maersk concludes long-term contract
Maersk Supply Service, which is part of the A.P. Møller Group, has concluded a contract for long-term employment of five cable-laying vessels to Global Marine Systems, UK. The contract includes four new cable-laying vessels, delivered from Volkswerft Stralsund, Germany in 2000 and early 2001, and one of the existing cable-laying vessels in the Maersk fleet, MÆRSK FORWARDER.
"The cooperation with Global Marine Systems, one of the world's leading companies within installation and maintenance of submarine cables, is yet another confirmation of our wish to extend our commitment within this area of business and will strengthen the two companies in their constant endeavours to provide the customers with second-to-none service in this market", Tage Bundgaard, Executive Vice President in A.P. Møller, says.
Initially, the contract involves an eight-year employment of the vessels with a possibility for employment of additional vessels.
MÆRSK FORWARDER enters into this contract in early 2000 as the first vessel, and the remaining four follow as they are delivered from the yard.
