Namegiving of newbuilding L 200 from Odense Steel Shipyard
On Saturday 3 December 2005 Odense Steel Shipyard presented its latest newbuilding for the A.P. Moller - Maersk Group.

Mrs Kirsten Andersen, accompanied by her husband, Mr Nils Smedegaard Andersen, President, Chief Executive Officer, Carlsberg A/S and Carlsberg Breweries A/S, honoured A.P. Moller - Maersk and the Yard by naming the newbuilding GJERTRUD MÆRSK.

GJERTRUD MÆRSK is the fourth ship in a new series of updated container ships operated with extensive automation. The choice of materials for the vessel as well as the interior is of highest quality – a characteristic for container ships built at Odense Steel Shipyard.

With its 12-cylinder Wärtsilä RT-flex diesel engine from Doosan Engine Co., which develops 93,000 BHP, GJERTRUD MÆRSK will after delivery enter Maersk Sealand’s worldwide liner service and thereby together with the other vessels contribute to a global, competitive and flexible transport for the company’s customers.

GJERTRUD MÆRSK will be registered in Ringkøbing and will be commanded by Captain John Møller Jensen with Søren Bjerre Jensen as Chief Engineer.
